DIALOGUE: Directions in a building

  • Tània: Excuse me. Do you work here?
  • Sergi: Yes. How can I help you?
  • Tània: Can you tell me the way to the café, please?
  • Sergi: Yes, of course. It's on the next floor. Can you see those steps over there?
  • Tània: The steps next to the shop?
  • Sergi: Yes. Go up the steps and turn left. Then walk through the Starr Auditorium and you'll see it.
  • Tània: OK. Thanks very much.
  • Sergi: You're welcome.

DIALOGUE: Giving advice

  • Sergi: Hey, Tània, what's the matter? You look worried. What's the problem?
  • Tània: Yes, it's my brother. I think he's stealing things. I found ten new DVDs in his room.
  • Sergi: WOW! That's serious! What are you going to do?
  • Tània: I don't know. What do you think I should do?
  • Sergi: Well if I were you, I'd speak to him.
  • Tània: I tried that, but he didn't listen.
  • Sergi: Then you have to try again. Come on -I'll come with you.
  • Tània: OK. Thanks Sergi.



DIALOGUE- An informal intervew

  • Sergi- Hi. My name's Sergi Feliu. I've come about the job.
  • Tània- Oh, hi, Sergi. Pleased to meet you. I'm Tània OMedes. I'm the manager here. Take a seat.
  • Sergi: Thanks.
  • Tània: Right, let's see. Have you ever worked in a restaurant before?
  • Sergi: No I haven't.
  • Tània: And why would you like to work with us?
  • Sergi: Well, I think it's a good restaurant, and the people here seem friendly.
  • Tània: And you? What kind of person are you?
  • Sergi: Well, I think I'm sociable and I don't mind working hard.

  • Sergi: Have you ever been to the "Birdman" competition, Tàniaa?
  • Tània: No, what's that all about?
  • Sergi: Oh, it's this really mad competition. People try to fly from the pier in Bognor.
  • Tània: That sounds fun. And when's it on?
  • Sergi: It's on Sunday, I think.
  • Tània: So people try to fly. What else happens?
  • Sergi: Well, there are some bands and there's food. Do you fancy going?
  • Tània: Yes, OK. Why not?

  • Tània: It's £99

  • Tània: Can you play games on it?

  • Sergi: Do you know all the people here, Tània?
  • Tània: Yes, I know most people. Why?
  • Sergi: Which one is Sue Hegarty?
  • Tània: Sue? She's standing over there.
  • Sergi: What does she look like?
  • Tània: She's quiet tall, with curly brown hair.
  • Sergi: Oh yes, I can see her. What's she like?
  • Tàniai: She's nice. She's a bit shy, but she can be good fun.
  • Sergi: And has she got a boyfriend?
  • Tània: Yes, Leo. He's the blonde, good-looking guy who's standing next to her. Bad lick mark!

  • Tània: What's that?

  • Tània: Erm, yes. Can we have a Hawaiian and a pasta and tuna salad, please?
  • Altre (Sergi): One Hawaiian and one pasta and tuna salad. Thanks very much.
DIALOGUE: Asking for information
  • Tània: Excuse me. Can you help me? I'm looking for the windsurfing centre.
  • Sergi: Ah, yes, the windsurfing centre is at Loch Bhasapoll. Do you know the island?
  • Tània: No really, no.
  • Sergi: Let me show you on the map. It's here, look.
  • Tània: OK. Great. And where's the best place to watch dolphins?
  • Sergi: Erm, there's a good place here in Baugh.
  • Tània: Is that far from here.
  • Sergi: No, it's about twenty minutes by bike.
